WELCOME

What to Expect

If you are a first-time visitor to First Presbyterian, expect to be warmly greeted by our ushers and others. We are a small, loving community that welcomes new people into our fellowship.

The service is in the liturgical style and includes singing both old favorite hymns as well as newer praise songs. From mid-September through Memorial Day the chancel choir assists in leading worship. During the summer months we have individuals providing special music for the congregation. We are blessed to have a great choir director/ pianist along with an organist. We are often blessed with other instrumentalist who play the flute, viola, and bag pipes.

While Pastor Steve usually wears a robe, there is no dress code. Worshippers are just as likely to be in a comfortable pair of slack and polo shirt as they are to be in coat and tie or a dress. With the North Platte River, the Snowy Range and the Sierra Madres nearby, we do not focus on formal attire.

Pastor Steve

The Rev. Steve Niccolls became the pastor of the church on November 1, 2015. He received his Masters of Divinity (M.Div) from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2013.

Prior to coming to Saratoga, Steve was a school teacher for 28 years in a large district just north of Oakland CA. Most of those years were spent teaching 7-12th grade Social Science classes. He also led worship services at a small “Drive-In” service in the Bay Area for 11 years

Steve enjoys refereeing youth, high school and adult league sporting events, as well as trying to play golf.  Steve and his wife, Emily, have two adult aged daughters living in the Bay Area.

First Presbyterian, Saratoga History

First Presbyterian Church has been serving the Platte Valley and world since 1890, the same year Wyoming became the Forty-Fourth state. While the church has undergone some renovations, the building still maintains its small church charm. Some of that charm includes stained glass windows created by a local artist and a bell tower that once served as the town’s emergency alarm. The bell is still used to notify the community that worship is about to begin.

The members of First Presbyterian have a history of being active in the community. Many are active in community service clubs, governmental committees and boards. One member is a former member of the Wyoming State House of Representatives.
